Verruca Vulgaris Warts – Face Hand Foot Warts Removal
What are Common Warts?
Common Warts are noncancerous skin growths caused by a virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV). There are 60 or more types of HPV. Some types tend to cause warts on your skin. Common warts usually occur on your hands, fingers or near your fingernails. Other types of HPV tend to cause warts in other places, such as on the soles of the feet, the genitals or the face and legs.
What are the causes?
Common Warts occur through direct contact with the human papillomavirus (HPV). Some types of Warts— such as Genital Warts— are quite contagious, but the chance of catching Common Warts from another person is small.
Warts usually spread through breaks in skin, Biting nails can also cause warts to spread on fingertips and around nails.
- How do they appear?
Common Warts appear in the following forms:Small, fleshy bumps
- Rough to the touch.
Warts may occur singly or in multiples. They often contain one or more tiny black dots, which are sometimes called wart seeds but are actually small, clotted blood vessels. Common Warts are usually painless.
What is the treatment?
The two most common treatments for Warts include patient-applied salicylic acid and physician-administered cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen.
Recommended Guidelines For The Management Of Common Warts are as follows:
First-line therapy – Salicylic acid, Cryotherapy, carbon dioxide laser ablation
Second-line therapy – Cantharidin, radiofrequency cautery, electrocautery
Third-line therapy – Bleomycin, intralesional immunotherapy, pulsed dye laser therapy.
How to prevent contracting or spread of Warts?
- Don’t brush, clip, comb or shave areas with Warts
- Don’t use the same file or nail clipper on warts as used on healthy nails.
- Don’t bite fingernails
- Don’t pick at Warts.
- Keep hands as dry as possible
How much would a treatment for a case of Warts cost?
The treatment cost depends on the type of treatment chosen. Treatment with liquid nitrogen will be reasonably cheaper as compared to the treatment with Carbon dioxide (CO2) and Pulsed Dye Lasers, since laser treatments require multiple sessions for the results to show up. In general, a consultation with Dr. Rinky Kapoor would cost about INR 1000/- per consultation. You may be required to follow up for a period of about 6-8 months, depending upon the region involved.
