Human scalp is made up of skin cells, stem cells and other kinds of topical cells that contain hair follicles. Theoretically it has been noticed that injecting platelets into the scalp can help reinitiate stunted hair growth. The platelets work to create conducive environment in the hair follicle, and causes it sprout hair. This happens because platelets initiate healing, regeneration and growth of new cells.
How is PRP done?
Platelet rich plasma procedure begins with your visit to the trichologist. He will draw blood from your vein the same way you would have a blood sample taken for examination – it doesn’t hurt much. Then, a special equipment will be used to centrifuge the blood that has been drawn, and concentrate it to obtain the plasma which will be used for treatment. The plasma so obtained will be concentrated. You will then proceed for anesthesia on your scalp to prevent feeling any pain. PRP will then be injected in your scalp, your hair will be washed. This concludes the procedure. You may have to go in for repeated sessions separated by several months in between.
