Is flossing important?

Ans. Oral health maintenance is important for maintaining the overall health. Oral hygiene includes brushing, oral rinse (mouthwash), tongue cleaning, gum massage and flossing. Simple brushing is not enough and sometimes for particles can remain stuck in between the teeth. Inter-dental cleaning using the floss helps clean the teeth properly and prevent cavity and plaque formation. It is an important oral hygiene habit that should never be overlooked because floss reaches places where normal toothbrush does not.

It is important to perform flossing in a correct way; otherwise it will lead to damage of the gum or soft tissues. Place the floss between the two teeth. Glide the floss up and down and rubbing it against the both side of each teeth. Do not rub on gum, it will cause bleeding. Gently glide the floss between tooth and gum area and clean it. Rinse your mouth well after flossing. People who floss daily enjoy a better gum and teeth health.
