Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

As the name suggests the eyelid surgery removes the excess skin, fat, slacking muscles from upper and lower eyelids. Blepharoplasty can remove the sagging portion of the eyelids that will clear any obstruction in the peripheral vision increasing the visual field. Repair of the droopy eyelids also gives a youthful look the eyes making the entire face look younger. Blepharoplasty is one of the top five cosmetic procedures done in the world. Blepharoplasty can be done for upper eyelids and lower eyelids.

Ptosis

Treatment of droopy upper eyelids is known as Ptosis. Droopy eyelids can restrict the vision of the patient and the face will appear sleepy at all times. People suffering from Ptosis can have a difficulty in keeping their eyes open and have to keep their eyebrows raised causing strain to the entire facial muscles. • Ectropion repair: When the eyelids are rolled away from the eye, it can cause tearing, irritation, redness and even breakdown of cornea due to exposure.
• Entropion repair: When the eyelids are rolled inward, they make it sensitive towards wind and light and if not treated properly it can lead to damage of cornea and infections.

Lacrimal glands are the glands responsible for producing tears in the eyes. If this does not function correctly then it can lead to the eyes drying up which further leads to other problems in eyes or there can be an over product of tears causing the eyes to be watery all the times. Lacrimal surgery is a type of oculoplastic surgery that aims to correct the function of the lacrimal gland making sure there is optimal tear production in eyes to keep them healthy and clean.
